Corrective Action Resolution (CAR)

Closed loop corrective action is a standard industry term. Businesses have found that the best way to ensure that an issue is not repeated is through a five step process.

• Define the corrective action
• Change is implemented
• Validation by Initiator
• Monitor future corrective actions

This provides the closed loop aspect and allows constant vigilance to ensure that the issue was addressed correctly and completely.

ASIL has developed a “Corrective Action Resolution” tool which is integrated with the ASIL tool suite.  Whenever a tool determines that a corrective action is required, the program manager identifies the action in that tool and it is automatically fed into the “Corrective Action Resolution”  tool.  This provides one place for the project team to review all of the corrective actions which are open and closed for their project.
