STANFORD, California – August 5, 2004 - It was a beautiful summer day and the stage was set for an exchange of progressive ideas. Stanford University was holding Summer sessions and a program led by Dr. Ferdo Ivanek was about to begin. The masters’ program topic set for this evening was Progress in Worldwide Telecommunications.
Dr. Ivanek assembled three speakers to present diverse perspectives on the topic. The first speaker was Vivek Paul - Vice Chairman and President of Wipro Technologies. Vivek focused on the globalization in Telecom and how Wipro has become a strong global player.
The next speaker was Peter Pazmany -President and CEO of Advanced Solutions In Logistics, Inc. Peter spoke about using outsourcing as a means to an end,and the fundamentals required to achieve success. The examples shared were a true reflection of the Telecom industry's challenges in the outsourcing arena.
The evening was rounded out by Michael M. Honda - Member of Congress for the 15th District, California. Congressman Honda shared his perspectives on some of the Federal investment and regulatory aspects of Telecommunications. He then picked up the theme of outsourcing as a means to an end and continued to provide his thoughts on this growing area.
The night ended with a lively set of responses to a series of questions provided by Stanford University students.
