Press Release: Pazmany presents CLM track "4PLs - hype or reality?

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania – October 4, 2004 - The annual conference of the Council of Logistics Management was held in the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia. The theme for the conference this year was "Vision, Velocity, Value." The Keynote speaker, former British Prime Minister, the Right Honorable John Major, opened the conference on the first day.

One of the key track sessions, “4PLs - hype or reality?” was focused on innovations in outsourcing. This session was delivered by two industry leading experts, with a track record of presenting many times at prior CLM conferences.

Dr. J.R. Franklin - Vice President of Customer Solutions from Kuehne & Nagel and Peter Pazmany - President and CEO of Advanced Solutions In Logistics, Inc shared the stage and co-presented a solid overview of the 4PL environment.

Dr. Franklin continues to be actively engaged in shaping the Industry direction on Lead Logistics Providers and 4PLs through a combination of whitepapers and industry forums. His innovative ideas have helped to guide the Kuehne & Nagel team in delivering global solutions.

Mr. Pazmany is a past winner of Richmond Events 2000 Top 20 Logistics Professionals and a former Sun Microsystems Vice President, with over 25 years of industry experience. Mr. Pazmany continues to share experiences with CLM attendees in order to help the attendees see a broader picture of the value to be gained from outsourcing with the right partners. Mr. Pazmany was nominated for the CLM Distinguished Service Award by United Parcel Service in 2000 and 2001.

The session presented a foundation of definitions and then proceeded into the challenges of finding the perfect 4PL. The conclusion was that while 4PLs do exist, the industry is still in its infancy and therefore there are no clear winners in the race today. The market continues to evolve as Customers increase their expectations and desire to team with less versus more partners/providers.
